Grunge Sonnet (for Kurt Cobain)

for Kurt Cobain (1967-94)

The flannelette winter
Needs a wry splinter
As Kurt wears
His hidden cares.

Aberdeen, that rough landscape,
A 'lost love' he can't escape.

Here, in Seattle,
A city undone
In culture's smile,
He finds a new style.

Yet, he confides,
That love for home resides

While his guitar crunches around
Screaming with sound.
